Virtual Worldwide Directory of Development Banks and DFIs

 

(February 2009)

 

 

Thanks to the contributions and data received from the Regional Associations, this Directory has already been prepared and  incorporated into the site of the World Federation of Development Financing Institutions/WFDFI (web page: http:///www.wfdfi.org.pe).

 

This WFDFI special project is the first effort made at the global level to put together basic institutional information about the development banks and DFIs from all over the world, in order to encourage the exchange of information and possibilities for cooperation and assistance across the board, including joint programs and projects.

 

We would like to receive suggestions, corrections and additions to the information provided in the Directory.  It is our intention to improve its data at least once a year, since we are planning to add further and more complete information in the future versions.

 

The Regional Associations and the other development banks are invited to add the Directory to their own web pages and to circulate it among their members. We would like to receive information about the actions taken in connection with the Directory.

Died Mr. Orhan SAĞCI, Former Secretary General of WFDFI

The World Federation of Development Financing Institutions (WFDFI) regret the sudden loss of Mr. Orhan Sagcy, former Secretary General of WFDFI (1999-2002) and the Association of National Development Finance Institutions in Member Countries of the Islamic Development Bank – ADFIMI (1996-2006) on 9 February 2009 in İstanbul, Turkey. In both positions Mr. Sagcy contributed substantially to the strengthening of development banks, to its institutional cohesion and cooperation. His valuable services will always be remembered by the WFDFI and ADFIMI Secretariat and its DFI Members.

WHEREAS, the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE), and the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP), share a common vision that development financing is key to sustainable development.


WHEREAS, both regional Associations desire to help their members achieve their business and development objectives.

In pursuance of the obovementioned premises, both Associations hereby agree to jointly cooperate in the following programs and activities.

  • ALIDE and ADFIAP will co-organize conferences and symposia on sustainable development issues such as, but not limited to, the environment, small and medium enterprise (SME), socially-responsible investment (SRI), and local economic development (LED).
     

  • ALIDE and ADFIAP will jointly develop and promote training and capacity-building programs to enhance the professional and institutional capability of its member-banks and other financial institutions that share the same development objectives.
     

  • ALIDE and ADFIAP will organize exchange missions for their members to encourage strategic alliances and business networking among themselves and their clients.
     

  • ALIDE and ADFIAP will explore other areas of cooperation such as information exchange, publications, research and studies.
