The
Association of Development Finance Institutions in the Member
Countries of Islamic Development Bank elected new Chairman and New
Secretary General. As Chairman was elected Br. Mehmet Emin Ozcan,
Member of the Board, Turkiye Cumhuriyeti Ziraat Bankasi A.S.; and
like Secretary General was elected Mr. Nuri Birtek.

251.6 MILLION US DOLLARS ALLOCATED BY THE
ISLAMIC DEVELOPMENT BANK FOR RELIEF IN PAKISTAN
The President Leaves for Pakistan to See for Himself the Devastation
Caused by the Earthquake
The President of the Islamic Development, Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali, has
stated that the IDB Board of Executive Directors has allocated 251.6
million US dollars as a contribution to the ongoing international
relief efforts to help Pakistan overcome the hardship caused by the
devastating earthquake that hit the country.
The assistance consists of US$ 50 million as soft loans, US$ 100
million for infrastructure projects, US$ 100 million for imported
goods and foodstuffs and US$ 1.6 million as grant from the IDB Waqf
Fund for the immediate purchase of relief materials such as tents
and medicine.
In this regard, the Secretary General of the Organization of the
Islamic Conference, Ekmelleddin Ihsanoglu together with Dr. Ahmad
Mohamed Ali will leave for Pakistan today to visit the
quake-affected areas.
